Are There Simple Ways To Stop Snoring?
It's no surprise that the number of people looking for ways to stop snoring are
increasing online. In most cases, the solution can be found cheaply at home.
In severe cases this might not be possible, but that is usually reserved for cases
where the snoring is caused by a narrow nasal passage.
It's not hard to find out if the cause and solution are a lot simpler, so let's take the
main causes of snoring one at a time.
Snoring is caused by air struggling to get through the airways, and it's by
discovering and stopping these causes that we find the ways to stop snoring.
A common cause is sleeping on your back. The tonge and throat muscles can fall
back into the throat restricting the airflow, leading to the snoring.
The way to stop it is to stop lying on your back.
You can buy special shaped pillows to help with this, but a cheap way is to either
roll up some pillows under one side of your head, or put a golf ball or walnut into a
sock and pin it to the back of your nightwear.
This may sound like an old granny cure, but it works!
The strength of the tongue and throat muscles can also be increased with special
exercises, making them less likely to fall backwards into the throat.
Being overwieght is another cause of snoring, because the extra weight around the
neck can push the throat together, and you get the same old narrow airway.
A simple walking regime is normally enough to lose that extra weight off the neck.

If you drink alcohol before sleep, the relaxant nature of the drink can cause
relaxation of those throat muscles, and we know by now what happens as a result
of weak throat muscles - snoring!
So try not to drink alcohol too close to sleep.
Steer clear of late night milk too, as it can leave a build up of mucus in the throat.
Sometimes putting your head over a bowl of steam can work wonders in clearing
those passages before you go to bed.
Keep your sleeping environment as clean as possible.
Dust or other irritants do not help when you are trying to make the passage for air
as easy as possible.
So there we are, a few easy ways to stop snoring, lying on your back, losing a bit
of weight around the neck, strengthening your throat/tongue, easing off late night
alcohol and milk.
If you work through those you will in all likelihood have found your way to stop snoring!
