What's the day of a traveling nurse like?
Well it may sound glib to say 'it depends', but of course it *does* depend!
You might get the high octane environment of an emergency ward, or the laid back surroundings of people already on the mend.
That's pretty much the whole point of being a traveling nurse - that you can choose what type of days you want.
Travel nurses can take long term jobs, and that may lead to permanent positions, but a traveling nurse will generally see a whole variety of clinical
settings - different styles and different places.
Some traveling nurses like to do the job simply because they can change their surroundings every now again to stop getting stale, so will take a
succession of reasonably long jobs.
Other nurses like the adventure aspect of constant change, so love the shorter jobs.
Some see it as an adventure, and not knowing where they'll go or what they'll be doing is a huge appeal.
Maybe you want to cruise the world - no cruise ship can leave port without regulated medical provision, so there's a great opportinuty for those
who want to travel and nurse at the same time.
Others like the fact that they can help in emergencies, and spend their time on the extremes of disaster zones, or war areas.
Obviously the daily routine here is that there *is* no daily routine, and it's not something to be taken on lightly - you need to strong disposition of a
regular nurse, plus an enjoyment of that high adrenaline atmosphere.
A lot of traveling nurses don't have any desire for adventure - they like a daily routine, and may consider the changes required of a travel nurse as a
nuisance they are prepared to put up with for well paid constant work which they may find harder to get with a permanent position.
The fact that you get all different sorts of traveling nurse assignments makes it only natural that you get all sorts of different personalities going into
the profession.
Just as in any field of medicine or employment you get different strokes for different folks, and it's certainly the same for travel nurses.
So really, the day of a traveling nurse should be pretty much how they want it to be, otherwise they'll just travel on to the next job!
