    Hi There,
I hope everything is ok with you.
I said last week that I would be doing some serious thinking
this week as to why I had taken so little action towards my
project, The Great Gordino's Fame Game.
I think part of it is that at the moment, I'm in a position
where I can pretty much do as I please.
I work for myself, I live by myself, there's only really me to
    consider.
That has its' plus points without doubt, but it does mean that
if something comes along that I can't really be bothered to do,
unless I *have* to, I can just not do it!
Becoming 'famous' is not something that can likely be done without
a lot of hard work and setbacks.
Maybe that's the problem, I would like the good bits, but can't
be bothered with the associated bad bits?
I also don't think that being famous is soemthing I need, my need
is maybe to have a bit of adventure.
I've done plenty of things in my time, and maybe I now need to
    try something new.
So, instead of calling it The Great Gordino's Fame Game, how about
if I call it The Great Gordino's Mid-Life Crisis?
Not that it is a mid-life crisis you understand, it's just a title
    to make me smile.
The Winter Olympics finished at the weekend.
One of the male curling gold medal team from Canada is 50, the
oldest gold medallist at a winter games, so there is hope!
I found that qualification for the Olympics comes via results at
    the World Championships.
Qualification for those comes via the European Championships.
Qualification for those comes from the National Championships.
The GB teams qualified for the Olympics as Scotland, so there is
no reason why an England team can't do well in the Worlds and Europeans.
The English Championship was held in early Feb, so it has gone for
this year, but it was held in England for the first time, at the
only rink in England, just up the road from where I live.
How about this for an idea - The Great Gordino's Golden Million?
I put a bet on with a bookmaker to win £1 million that I will
    win a gold medal.
Our medal haul this time was a paltry single silver, so the idea
    would generate interest.
Then all I need to do is put a team together, win the English
Championship, then the European, then the World - piece of cake really!
With all that thinking, helped along by copious amounts of tea, I
decided that if fame wasn't the goal, but adventure was, maybe I
should look again, but harder, at forming a cabaret band.
I don't know how big he ever was outside the UK, but in the 70s a
huge star of glam rock here was Gary Glitter.
His reputation was forever ruined after a pornography case, but his
backing band was called The Glitter Band, and they had a few hits of their own.
A big area of success in live entertainment here is tribute bands,
and there is a tribute band to glam rock called The Gutter Band,
and a bit of online research showed that to book them costs £3000!
I found their website, and to my surprise, their costumes are just
bad fancy dress outfits, nothing like as good as I expected.
To be honest, I certainly know enough musicians to put together a
    band like that.
They may not all be prepared to wear sequins and platforms, and they
may not all be prepared to travel for well paying gigs, but it's a
project I could have up and running this year with no trouble -
    if I wanted to!!!
I think my next plan of action for this week is to get in touch with
the curling rink about having a go, and also to film an idea I had for
    the Fame Game project.
I was going to do it a couple of weeks ago, but it involves me kicking
a football around, and when I went to do it, all the local kids were on
    holiday from school.
I didn't want them laughing at me, so I put it off for a week.
Then last week it was a bit nippy outside, and I didn't want to catch a
chill, so I put it off for another week.
    Hmm, maybe this week.
    So that's it for now.
You can see I have been doing some thinking, and have lots of ideas in my
head, it's a case of picking something and taking action.
You can see why I have trouble sleeping sometimes with all that lot rattling
around, and you can probably also see why I sleep alone.
Maybe I should take the bit about the curling gold medal off my internet
    dating site profile?
    Have a good week.
    'Til Next Time,
    Health and Happiness,
    Gordon
