    The Great Gordino Newsletter - Issue 260 - Fri 26th Nov 2004
    ***************************************************
    Hi There,
I hope Friday finds all well where you are.
I haven't mentioned sport for a while, so by jiminy I'm going to
    today.
On Tuesday, Manchester United won a European football tie.
One of, if not *the* richest club in sport, the game on Tuesday
was newsworthy off the field as much as on it.
It was the 1000th game in charge for the manager, Sir Alex
    Ferguson.
That's not a milestone you get to overnight - in fact he has been
    in charge for 18 years.
The first few years were difficult for him, at a club hungry for
success, and he was close to the usual fate of the football
    manager, the sack!
He made it through the rough years though, culminating in 1999
when the team won a unique treble of the Eurpoean Cup, the
domestic league and the domestic cup.
A Scotsman with a well documented fiery temper and ruthless
streak, you can still see him jumping up and down when the
    team score.
That's the key to such a long career - he doesn't need the
money, not by a long way, but he does it because he loves it!
This ties in with an NFL game this coming Monday, when Brett
Favre makes his 200th consecutive start for the Green Bay
    Packers.
Favre has enjoyed a hugely successful 14-year career, and is
fast closing in on some all-time records.
Again, this is someone who is RICH in capital letters, and
considering he takes a pounding every game, what's the reason
    for him carrying on?
His love of what he does, of course!
Yesterday was Thanksgiving in the US.
I hope you had a good time if you celebrate it, and if you don't
celebrate it, take the time to be grateful for what we have.
Sir Alex Ferguson here in the UK, Brett Fare in the US, both living
in free countries where we have bountiful opportunity in front of
    us.
In a week where the situation in the Ukraine is very hairy after a
disputed election result, let's be thankful for our freedom.
4 years ago in the US I'm almost surprised we didn't see
protestors on the streets, but whoever won in 2000, the country
    worked the same way.
In the Ukraine, the end result will send the country either pro-
Russian, or pro-European Union, so it will make a huge
    difference.
Personally I know I appreciate what I have.
Ok, that's it for today, have a good weekend, and consider this -
can you imagine kicking a ball around for 10 years, and if you
    can, there's nothing stopping you!
    'Til Monday,
    Health and Happiness,
    Gordon
