    The Great Gordino Newsletter - Issue 350 - Mon 23rd Jan 2006
    ***************************************************
Archive Issues online at - gordonbryan.com/archive
    Hi There,
I hope Monday finds you well.
So here we are, Issue 350!
Not a particularly notable anniversary maybe, but since the
newsletter went from thrice to once weekly, the anniversary
issues are obviously less regular, so I'm going with it!
In fact I'm off to the theatre tonight - not just because I've
    done 350 newsletters, it's just a coincidence, but it's a good
excuse to maybe have an extra glass of lemonade.
I'm going to see the Blueman Group in London, so I'll let you
know next week how I get on.
I also think I will have firmed up my idea for my project to
    take on this year.
I want to talk to a couple of people this week, then I think I
    am decided.
Thanks for the ideas you have been sending me, keep 'em coming!
In fact, feel free to email me about anything.
It's one of the reasons I enjoy writing the newsletter, the
interaction, and long may it continue!
Thanks for reading, whether it's been for 1 or 350 issues!
I have a fair old whack of them archived online (which I still
need to trawl for material for my next book!)
I genuinely appreciate the fact that people read my witterings,
after all it wouln't be much fun if it just went into cyberspace
    and sat there would it!
As promised, here's the piece I like to use for the newsletter
    anniversaries.
Written in 1927, I love it.
You can spend a whole week just focusing on one sentence.
It is jam packed with good advice, and if ever something deserved
to be printed out and stuck on the wall, apart from a picture of me,
    then this is it.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

    The Desiderata
    ***************************************
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what
peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all
persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to
others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their
story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to
    the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or
bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than
yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep
interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real
possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of
trickery. But let not this blind you to what virtue there is; many
persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of
    heroism.
    Be yourself.
    Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial
as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully
    surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But
do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are
born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less
than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And
whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is
    unfolding as it should.
Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to
be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy
confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham,
drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world.
    Be cheerful.
    Strive to be happy.
    --- Max Ehrmann, 1927
