    Hi There,
Last week I talked about following your passion, I asked for
donations to my election campaign, link above!, and I
featured the amazing and inspiring Jane Tomlinson.
If you missed any of them, you can read them via the main archive link above.
The feature on Friday about Jane Tomlinson was really a 'keep
things in perspective' story, and it's something I wrote about in
    my book.
Last week I saw a program which reminded me of it again.
    Yellowstone.
That's the name of a huge National Park in the US.
Famous for its' gushing water geysers.
Under the surface of Yellowstone is a huge volcano.
It's a dormant volcano, which means that unlike extinct
    volcanos, it is still alive.
The huge nature of this underground volcano means that it is
possible to produce a "super eruption", which would wipe out
millions of people, not just in the US, but around the globe.
The last super eruption at Yellowstone happened around
    640,000 years ago.
    'Phew' you may well say.
Hmm, well the 2 eruptions before the last one happened at
intervals of around 700,000 years, so that time lapse since the
last one might suggest that one is about due.
One of the problems of predicting the future at Yellowstone, is
that most of the signals of an eruption are present all the time,
so it's extremely hard to predict.
So, does this mean that we should all pack up and head for the
    point furthest away from Yellowstone?
    Er, no.
Although theoretically it's possible that Yellowstone could erupt
tomorrow, it's also possible that it won't happen for another
    1,000, 50,000, or 100,000 years!
I wrote a chapter in my book called 'Asteroid Attacks Earth -
What's Your Perspective?' where I cover this whole perspective
    issue.
If you fancy reading it, the link is at the bottom.
    Can we stop Yellowstone erupting?
    No.
Can we tell for sure when it will happen?
    No.
    Will it be tomorrow?
    Possibly.
The sensible thing to do here is make sure we get things in
    perspective.
Why are we here on this planet - how long have we got?
Should we spend our time moaning about the small stuff or
should we spend it trying to further ourselves, and follow
whatever it is that means something to us individually?
I know which one I'm going for, and it's one of the reasons I'm
    standing for election.
Mind you, when I go knocking on doors, I don't think I'll start by
telling people that Yellowstone might erupt!
Ok, that's it for today, and here's something to consider - are
you getting things in the right perspective?
    'Til Wednesday,
    Health and Happiness,
