    The Great Gordino Newsletter - Issue 293 - Mon 21st Feb 2005
    ***************************************************
    Hi There,
I hope everything's ok with you.
Last week I talked about Captain Scarlet, and names I picked if
    I ever had any daughters.
I also talked about the easy basics of getting your site noticed
online, and I covered an introduction to NLP.
If you missed any of them, you can read them via the main archive link above.
Where I live there was a lovely blue sky this morning, which has
gradually been replaced by grey clouds.
We have forecasts for a lot of snow, and in fact there are flurries
    now.
The sun can still be seen, so does that mean there should
a "snowbow" somewhere, and will it have different colours than a
    rainbow?
    Flourescent pink perhaps?
    Electric blue?
    Oh yes, now we're talking.
Aaah, just imagine, later in the week I might be able to take
one of those moonlit walks in the snow, although I remember
one of the best bits of advice I was ever given - don't eat yellow
    snow...
I must give a quick mention to Yelena Isinbayeva.
'Who?' I hear some of you ask.
I can also hear one or two snores, which isn't a good sign, but
    I'll carry on.
Long time readers will know the name well, as I have mentioned
her many times, and no doubt will do again.
She's a Russian polevaulter, and on Friday she broke the world
    record in the UK.
    I think it's the 11th time she's done it.
She only whacks it up one centimetre at a time, as she gets
around $50,000 every time she breaks it.
On Friday she vaulted 4.88, whichs takes her to the 16 foot
    mark.
The great male vaulter, Sergey Bubka, says Isinbayeva may well
be the first woman over 5 metres, and it's hard to argue.
Impressive stuff, and I can only imagine what it must feel like to
be setting new levels, doing what no-one has ever done before.
It's like making new footprints in fresh snow (although
preferably not yellow, as previously mentioned).
That's the achievement subject for today, and now I want to
    cover the business subject.
The other week I was perusing the TV guide, seeking out those
little gems I love, hidden amongst the sea of soaps.
I saw there was a US comedy late on a Tuesday night, and the TV reviewer
was bemoaning (ooh, good word) that fact that the channel put
so many US hit comedies in the late slot.
Larry Sanders, and Seinfeld are 2 examples of shows which
never took off as they might have done over here, simply down
    to this obscure scheduling.
Since I was a huge fan of both of those shows, I decided to take
the plunge and have a look.
    The show's called Arrested Development.
It's quirky and can be politically incorrect, and it makes me
    laugh.
It's also not on Tuesday nights anymore.
Having moved it from Sunday night to Tuesday night, the
channel has now moved it back to the Sunday night slot, and the
move to Tuesday was only for 1 week.
From a marketing angle, this is a huge point in my view,
because I have followed it back to Sunday night!
Originally I had ignored it, but by simply moving it to Tuesday
night for one week, putting it in a slot which appealed to me, I
watched it, and now it has me hooked.
How about that for making sure you are noticed, and throwing
yourself in front of a market!!
Ok, that's it for today, and here's the thought - if it snows too
hard, could you polevault from Sunday right the way over to
    Tuesday?
    'Til Wednesday,
    Health and Happiness,
    Gordon
