    The Great Gordino Newsletter - Issue 292 - Fri 18th Feb 2005
    ***************************************************
    Hi There,
I hope Friday finds you well.
I had a great evening yesterday.
I ended up with a great jolt to myself, which makes a nice
change from what I usually do, which is to fondle the electric
    socket with a fork.
I was at an introduction to NLP session in London, with Alexis
Garnaut-Miller and Anna Duschinsky, so instead of getting my
boost from plugging into the socket, I was able to plug into
    Alexis and Anna instead.
Er, on an inspirational level you understand, otherwise I could be
    accused of being vulgar.
    Not to mention greedy.
    NLP - Neuro Linguistic Programming.
I guess to sum it up in a nutshell it would deal with the way we
    process information.
Probably I'll get an email from Anna or Alexis saying I'm wrong,
but that's the summing up I'm going for.
Actually, I'm reminded of a recent conversation I had with
someone who is a psychologist, and has been for many years.
I was telling him about an article I wrote caled 'The ABC of CBT',
because I thought it was a natty title.
His response was to me ask me how I thought I was qualified to
    write about cognitive behavioural therapy.
    Here's how...
True, I've not been to school to study it, I have no official
    qualifications to my name.
I have, however, been given CBT.
When I was in a bad way 7 years ago with depression, it was
some CBT sessions which really hit home with me.
It was the CBT which managed to break through the endless fog
and darkness which you get with depression.
So that's how I feel able to talk about it, and I use that point to
    take us back to NLP.
Since I first started reading goal achievement and self
improvement books, over 20 years ago, the more I read the
    more I noticed something.
All the authors had their own individual style, but I noticed
common threads through all of them, so it made sense that
those common threads must have some value.
    It was similar last night.
Alexis explained how we build our beliefs and values as we grow
up, and it is these which mould our behaviour, bringing the
    resulting consequences.
If we want to change things in our life, just changing the
behaviour is not enough, we need to understand our beliefs and
values that lie underneath the behaviour.
This is a truly powerful point.
Once you grasp it, you can use it forever, and your life will feel
    different in an instant.
It was exciting for me last night, a reminder that I do what I do
because I choose to, and that when I plough away with my
newsletter, it might only take one story, one article, to flick a
switch in someone's brain to change their life forever.
My book is full of those ideas, and you can get it via the link
below, with your money back in full if you don't like it.
Also, here's the link to Alexis' site:

    Right, that's it for today.
Have a good weekend, and here's the thought - how do your
    beliefs mould your behaviour?
    'Til Monday,
    Health and Happiness,
