    The Great Gordino Newsletter - Issue 290 - Mon 14th Feb 2005
    ***************************************************

    Hi There,

Another Monday, and I hope you are well.
Last week I talked about being a team player, retraining
your brain, determination, the benefits of continuing what you
love, and I reached 2 years of writing this newsletter.
If you missed any of them, you can always catch up via the main
    archive link above.

I had a very early start today.
With it being Valentine's Day, I had considered camping out
overnight in eager anticipation of my mail.
C'mon, if you're getting a sack of mail delivered, it's only fair
    to offer a helping hand.
It was a bit chilly last night though, so I decided instead
to get up early and set myself up to wait.

There seems to be a lot of attractive women delivering the post
around here lately, and in the distance I could spot that familiar
uniform, although I was a bit concerned that she wasn't carrying a huge sack.

As she got closer, she put on a baseball cap, and if there's one thing
I like, it's women wearing hats.

My smile soon vanished when I saw that the cap had 'Forget it Loser'
written on it, and as she turned around, it carried on to say
    'no cards for Gordon Bryan'.

    Hmm, I thought, rather harsh.

Of course that's not strictly true.
I didn't set up camp outside, and there was no abusive hat, but
that lack of cards is true.

Being in a relationship is great, and I miss many parts of it.
Let's not forget though, that being in a relationship also has bad bits!
In the same way, being single has bad bits, but it also has good bits!

I choose to focus on the good bits of being single, and whatever your
relationship status, concentrate on the positives!

On Saturday I was about to watch a programme I had videoed, and the TV
was showing a typical Saturday morning kids' show.
The presenter said that they would be showing the world premier of the
    New Captain Scarlet.
    That got my attention!

Made by Gerry Anderson in the 60s, the original puppet Captain Scarlet
was a regular in my TV upbringing.

In fact, I always thought that if I had a girl, I'd like to call her Harmony,
Symphony, Melody or Rhapsody, characters from the show.

I still think they are pretty names, but if I had a girl now, I'd probably
    have to call her Miracle.
Miracle Bryan, it has a certain ring to it...

    Anyway, back to the show.
This new version is made with computer animation, and has a very up to
    date look to it.
It still keeps the flavour of the orginal, but it's not the same.

    That's progress!
It's the same with Star Trek.
It would be easy to stick rigidly with the original, not having anything
to do with the new version.

In my view, it's better to accept change, you can still enjoy the original,
but enjoy the new version too, which has a rich genuine flavour
    of the original appeal!

Ok, that's it for today, and here's the thought - are you concentrating
on the good bits, or the bad bits?

    'Til Wednesday,
    Health and Happiness,
    Gordon
