    Hi There,

I hope all is well wherever you are.
Since I changed from thrice to once weekly with this newsletter, I
can't write as quickly as before in response to current events, so
it's no surprise that today I'm going to focus on the bombing of
    London last Thursday.

Unfortunately it isn't that unusual to see the news coverage of
these events, it's just the name of the place that changes, and
in this case it's London, but seeing as I worked and travelled
there myself for many years, it does bring it a bit closer, and
when you consider what everyone went through, the 50+ who
died, and the rescue teams who are still attempting to recover
bodies, it puts the daily worries and niggles into perspective,
    doesn't it?

What do these people think they will achieve?
Do they honestly think that the UK will change its' foreign policy?
Hardly, in fact it hardens the resolve to maintain the policies we
have, good or bad, because we don't want to be seen to be
    giving in to terrorism.

The people who organise these things are usually highly
educated, in the west they so despise, and could not argue
against the logic I just put forward.
If you did ever sit round a table with them, they would just get
up and storm out, because faced with logic, they cannot argue.

They are just thugs and murderers.

I must say that a lot of the 'west's foreign policy leaves a lot to
be desired, but as someone who stood in our free democratic
elections in May, the way to change things is not with guns and
    bombs.
Anyone who stood for office on a platform of violence would not
get elected, in fact it's against the law to do so, but of course
the terrorists don't believe in democracy anyway, because in a
democracy you don't always get your way.

This last week has seen a series of events to mark the 60th
anniversary of VE day, when the war against Hitler finally came to
    an end.
Good prevailed then, as it will now.

Thanks for all the emails I got from around the world asking if I
    was ok and expressing solidarity.
That's exactly the kind of thing the terrorists hate to see,
because they have absolutely no weapon against it, and
whatever they do, that human to human compassion always wins.

I was all ready to joke about how Nasa had provided a great
firework display for the 4th July, and since I for one am never
prepared to be dictated to by bullies, I'll carry on and write about
    it...

On the 4th, the Deep Impact Nasa mission successfully hit a
comet with a washing-machine-sized probe, to help determine
    what comets are like inside.

10km a second, millions of miles away, and with a 7 minute
delay to transfer information to the vehicle, a team member
described it as 'trying to hit a speeding bullet with another
speeding bullet, and filming it all from a third bullet.'

Impressive, a display of human ingenuity and thirst for
knowledge, and it's that kind of positivity I like to focus on when
the scum try to bend my mind to their way.

    'Til Next Time,
    Health and Happiness,
    Gordon
