    The Great Gordino Newsletter - Issue 289 - Fri 11th Feb 2005
    ***************************************************
    Hi There,
I hope Friday finds you well.
So here we are, it's 2 years since I started this newsletter.
February 2003, and I tentatively set out on my way.
I remember putting the website on a forum to ask people what
    they thought.
The general view was that it was very poor, but one of the
people who said it was poor told me that she had redesigned it
for me, and did I mind!
Of course I didn't mind, she did a great job for me, and what a
way to start the newsletter with a perfect example of what
happens when you talk to peple about your plans, the
    opportunities that can present themselves.
    The aim of the newsletter?
To show what wealth of abundance you can create if you choose
to improve yourself and act on goal achievement theories.
I aim to use my own experiences, past and present, to illustrate
    the points.
As you may have noticed, I like to have a giggle along the way
too, there are plenty enough miserable buggers in the world as
    it is.
So, do I still believe that mission statement 2 years on, here in
    Februrary 2005?
Of course I do, in fact I've believed it and acted on it for the
    past 20 years.
I've had ups, I've had downs, but I've tried my hardest to follow
my own path, so that I won't look back and wonder 'what if?'
Thanks for reading, and thanks for continuing to let me know
what you think, it's the reason I keep writing!
I don't tend to feature other writers in the newsletter, but there
is one piece I have published a couple of times, and I'm doing
    so again today.
I make no apology for it.
If you've seen it before, read it again, remind yourself what it
says, and if you haven't seen it before, you're in for a treat, and
hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I first did.
    Here we go...

    The Desiderata
    ***************************************
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what
peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all
persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to
others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their
story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to
    the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or
bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than
yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep
interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real
possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of
trickery. But let not this blind you to what virtue there is; many
persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of
    heroism.
    Be yourself.
    Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial
as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully
    surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But
do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are
born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less
than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And
whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is
    unfolding as it should.
Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to
be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy
confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham,
drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world.
    Be cheerful.
    Strive to be happy.
