    Hi There,

    I hope everything is ok with you.

    I went to a meeting at the local council yesterday, with all the
    other election agents, to go through various bits and bobs.
    I had got my nomination papers all prepared to hand in, which is
    amazing considering my usual level of leave-it-to-the-last
    minute-ness.

    This time though, I was too keen, and was told I couldn't even
    hand them in yet.
    It seems that The Queen has to issue legal writs for the election
    of a new Parliament, and since she had only seen Tony Blair on
    Tuesday, the current Parliament was still in session!

    Incidentally, Tony Blair is the 10th Prime Minister that The
    Queen has had in office, going right back to Winston Churchill in
    the 50s!

    So, there I was at the meeting, nomination papers tucked away
    so as not to look silly, when I put my hand in my pocket to get
    out my pen...and if you read Wednesday's issue, you'll know
    where I'm going with this, I couldn't find it anywhere!

    I couldn't believe it, looking round as all the other agents were
    busily filling in the forms we had been given, quickly realising I
    had no alternative but to ask to borrow someone's pen!

    I wasn't happy about the prospect, so decided to give everyone
    the benefit of my alternative universe theory, at which point 3 of
    them asked me which Party I was representing.

    Hmm...

    So I now have a full list of all my local voters, a plan of action
    drawn up, a large pile of leaflets, and it's off to see if I can get
    elected.

    Tomorrow the town's football team has a game, so I will lurk
    outside the stadium with my leaflets - wish me luck!

    I reckon this will be my last pre-election newsletter.
    It might look as if I make it up as I go along when I write this
    newsletter, (and more often than not that's *exactly* what I
    do!), but nevertheless it does take time and thought to put out
    3 issues a week.
    Since I am competing with major political Parties, and the only
    asset I have at the same level of them is the 24 hours in
    every day, I should really be spending my newsletter time on
    hitting the streets.

    On my election website, I have started a blog, which I will try to
    keep up to date with developments.
    Also on that site, you can make a donation if you feel you'd like
    to support my effort.
    A £5/$10 donation would be great, a larger donation would also
    be great, as would a smaller one, the £5/$10 is a guide figure.
