    The Great Gordino Newsletter - Issue 273 - Wed 5th Jan 2005
    ***************************************************
    Hi There,
Here in the UK most people are back at work this week, and
across the country you can hear the strains of 'Oh no, back to
    work.'
The people that talk like that are stuck.
They're stuck in the belief that you do a job because you have
to, not because you enjoy it.
The belief that you can't change, becaue you're too old, or don't
know anything else, or are scared of failure.
I'm lucky because I don't have those beliefs.
I haven't had them for about 20 years.
It means, in my case, that 2 years ago, I started the New Year
touring the UK in a show, and then began my online adventures,
and last year, 2004 started with me still working from home for
    myself.
    This year?
The same, no trudging back to work for me, I'm the master of
my own destiny, I spend my days following my own choices.
That comes from questioning beliefs, training myself to accept
that I could choose my own future, and then just as importantly
as believing it, I acted on it, and carried on acting on it through
    the struggles.
New Year is a traditional time for making resolutions -
    This year I'll stop smoking.
This year I'll get fit, lose weight.
This year I'll stop hanging around in people's gardens.
Am I a fan of New Year resolutions?
    Well, yes and no.
No, I'm not a fan, beause the tradition of New Year resolutions
has become a joke idea, that you make a token commitment,
and then joke that you know you won't stick to it.
    That's a disaster.
It's a disaster for self improvement, goal achievement and
wealth creation, because not only will it not move you forward, it
will actually move you *backwards* by confirming negative
    beliefs.
The thing I do like about New Year resolutions, is that for some
people, it's the chance they need, a staging post to assess
where they are, and where they want to be.
This can, and should, be done all the time, not just once a year,
but if it takes a hokey tradition like New Year to kick start you,
    then take the opportunity!
Decide what you want from this year.
Work out how to start getting it.
    Believe you will get it.
    Start.
That's a 4 line formula for an amazing life for yourself , it really
is, and on Friday I'll be talking further about how to go from
    reading to doing!
    'Til Friday,
    Health and Happiness,
