    Hi There,

I hope Monday finds you well.

If you enjoy this newsletter, I'd be grateful if you could help with
my election campaign, by making a £5/$10 donation.
You can do this at my election website via the link above.

It would be hard not to have noticed the big news over the
weekend, which was that Pope John Paul II died.

Tony Blair has delayed calling the election, and Prince Charles
has postponed his wedding by a day, because the passing of the
    Pope is a global event.

    I'm not a Catholic.
As it happens, I'm not really religious at all.
I would say I'm more spiritual than religious.

All over the world though, you can see that people of many
faiths felt twitches of movement at the very least with the Pope's
    passing.

Quite apart from the fact that he was very unwell for a long time,
it goes without saying that he was a man absolutely devoted to
    his faith.
This is something that can be appreciated by anyone, religious
    or not.
He was someone that was convinced about the goodness of
    humankind.

Yes, he had his critics, both from within and without the Catholic
    movement.
Obviously the Catholic faith itself has its' fair share of critics.

I'm not interested in criticising religions.
There's only one thing I have a problem with about religions.

Religion in general does plenty of good for lots of people, it
gives people support and a framework to live their lives around.

Any religion basically promotes goodness to others and society,
so the main problem I have with religion is all the violence it has
    produced over century after century.

So this week, concentrate on religion by all means, but I'll be
concentrating instead on the potential for man's goodness to
man, and in particular, the fact that this starts with goodness to
    yourself!

Ok, have a good week, and remember the thought - goodness -
it *is* big, and it *is* clever!

    'Til Wednesday,
    Health and Happiness,
    Gordon
