    The Great Gordino Newsletter - Issue 298 - Fri 4th Mar 2005
    ***************************************************

    Hi There,

I hope Friday finds everything well where you are.

I had a great time yesterday catching up on some video
    watching.
I saw the first in an new series of Star Trek Enterprise.
It's a spin off set way before Captain Kirk's time.
A great idea, and it also helps that the show features Jolene
    Blalock.

I notice that since the last series she has a new hairstyle, some
natty new outfits, and a distinct tan, but I'd still let her make an
entry in my log any day of the week.

Something else I noticed - one of the military personel certainly
gets around, 'cos it was only on Wednesday that I saw him in
    Desperate Housewives.
Speaking of Desperate Housewives, in the show one of the
characters was talking about shelling crabs, and that it took her
ages 'to shell the little buggers.'

Not something I normally hear in an American accent, but it
    made me smile!

So, did you see 'The Apprentice' this week?
In the continuing competition to win a job working for Sir Alan
Sugar, this week had some *serious* cat fighting amongst the
    girls.
Oh yes, it was real 'pull up a chair, break out the popcorn' stuff.

Women always seem to be the first to admit that women can be
bitchy and difficult to work with.
Although I've found that honest, what I rarely hear is men piping
up that they can be as bad.

Believe me, men *can* be as bad.
I've seen plenty of male personality clashes in my time, so
hopefully we'll be seeing some of them as the series goes on.

That's one of the reasons I love working for myself - I have to
deal a lot less with the egos of the world.

Speaking of egos, I was doing some interesting research
    yesterday.
Here in the UK, we are fast approaching an election, so I thought
I'd investigate how you stand for election.

What always annoys me about politics, is party politics, where
individual MPs, elected to represent their constituents, are forced
to vote on issues in a certain way by the party they belong to.

This leads to MPs sometimes voting in a way their constituents
and even they themselves don't agree with!

    That seems ludicrous to me.

In the UK, you can stand as an independant candidate, which
means you can vote how you want in parliament.
Surely, if every MP was like this it would be a better
    representation of the people?

    Hmm.
Apparently you only need a £500 deposit to stand, and then you
are allowed expensives of around £10,000.
I haven't quite worked out who pays for those expenses yet...

So, what do you reckon, wouldn't it be funny if, at question time,
Tony Blair has just sat down, and the Speaker of the house calls
for the next question, 'The Great Gordino.'

On that frightening note, I'll leave you.
Have a good weekend, and here's the thought, do you get
dragged into personality clashes, and would I make a good MP?

    'Til Monday,
    Health and Happiness,
    Gordon
