    The Great Gordino Newsletter - Issue 272 - Mon 3rd Jan 2005
    ***************************************************
    Hi There,
    Well here we are, 2005
In the last issue I wrote about how we can look back over the year
and analyse where we are and what we have done compared to our goals.
I fully intended to be talking in this issue about how we should be
looking forward to the year ahead.
I'm still going to do that, but from a different viewpoint after the
    events of the last week.
It tends to be on Boxing Day that the news has something or other to make
you shake your head, but when I first heard about the Asian earthquake, I had no idea how
    wrong the initial reports were.
Between 5 and 7 thousand dead was the first figure, which was bad enough,
but then the figure just rose and rose, and how bad must it be when you wish the figure of
only 7 thousand dead was true?
Now standing at 140 thousand, with an accurate total never really
likely, and 8 days later, the news reports are still packed with scenes of devastation.
It's hard to imagine what really happened, how people could be lying
in the sun one minute, and gone the next.
Rich holiday makers, tourists on a long saved for visit, or locals making a meagre living
from the tourist trade, nature makes no account for who you are.
5 million people homeless, with nothing expect the clothes they walk
    in.
From my warm house thousands of miles away, there isn't much I can
do, except contribute to the relief fund, but it's important to remember what
happened as we look forward to 2005.
    Look around you now.
Right now, wherever you are reading this, look around you.
    Do you have food?
    Do you have water?
    Do you have shelter?
    Do you have transport?
Are you able to go out and work?
Can you choose what you do?
Do you have access to hospital care?
Does your area have an infrastructure?
Now think of what you want from this year.
In all probability, the only thing stopping you from getting there
    is commitment and hard work.
Ok, so make the commitment, put in the hard work, and be grateful.
Be grateful that you have the opportunity to pursue goals, that you
take the basics of life for granted.
Have a good 2005, make it a good one by moving down the path of your own
choosing, and however hard it may get, don't forget the abundance all
    around you.
    'Til Wednesday,
    Health and Happiness,
    Gordon
